VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Come join in the FUN !
The Destination ImagiNation® Program dedicates itself to enriching the lives of students by providing opportunities to explore and discover unlimited creative potential through teamwork, cooperation and mutual respect. Destination ImagiNation® has activities to help schools meet the No Child Left Behind Standards as well as provide extended learning activities to challenge the high achiever. It is not just for the gifted students, though. Many children with learning disabilities have also achieved success. Through the challenges and curriculum materials, the program addresses Federal Learning standards in Language Arts, Technology, the Arts, Social Studies, Science & Math, Thinking and Reasoning, Life skills and Listening and Speaking.
Destination ImagiNation’s flagship program runs annually during the school year and presents students working in teams of up to seven with five mind bending Team Challenges. Each challenge features one prominent task such as building a load bearing structure, creating a vehicle, writing a performance piece or exploring history. All challenges offer students an opportunity to explore their talents through a variety of learning specialties including musical, visual/spatial, mathematical/logical, linguistic, nature/environment, interpersonal and intrapersonal.
Destination ImagiNation also has exciting programs for special interests, such as Tech Effects, ImagiNation-4-Life, projectOUTREACH™, Rising Stars, and DI eXtreme™. This year we are also presenting The International Construction Challenge 2008 for high school students, which is sponsored by AEM- Association of Equipment Managers.
"Destination ImagiNation® provides a renewal for my own attitude, which can flag after days of meetings and months of grind: I think, "Surely if these budding artists, performers, engineers, and scientists can get excited about their own work, there must be a way for me to get fired up again." And that's exactly what happens. The kids (and team managers and parents) all thank us for helping out, but it is we, the appraisers and volunteers, who should thank them.) Mitchell K. Hobish, Ph.D., Owner, Sciential Consulting
