ROWVA won second place in the Destination Imagination state tournament April 10 in Glen Ellyn and will be one of just two Illinois teams that will proceed to the Global Finals at the University of Tennessee.

ROWVA was among 80 teams from throughout Illinois competing Saturday. They’ll now compete May 26-29 in Tennessee along with 1,000 teams from across the U.S. and 30 countries. Over 19,000 people are expected to attend Global Finals this year.

Team members include Montana Carlson, Emily Hennenfent, Morgan McKee, Brent Nelson and Wesley Anderson, all eighth graders at ROWVA Junior High School.

Destination Imagination promotes learning and experiencing creativity, teamwork and problem solving. Participating teams solve mind-bending challenges and present their solutions at tournaments.

The ROWVA team is seeking financial help to attend Global Finals. If you would like to make a contribution, send a check payable to ROWVA Destination Imagination P.O. Box 9, Oneida, IL 61467.

The ROWVA Destination Imagination team competed April 10 along with 80 teams from throughout Illinois and placed second in the middle school competition. They are now one of two teams from Illinois that will proceed to the Global Finals at the University of Tennessee. They will compete May 26-29 along with 1,000 teams from across the U.S. and 30 countries. More than 19,000 people are expected to attend Global Finals this year.

Destination ImagiNation Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides educational programs for more than 100,000 students each year to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving. It is an exhilarating after-school activity in which students work in teams to solve mind-bending Challenges and present their solutions at tournaments.

This is the second year ROWVA has participated in Destination Imagination. Team members include Montana Carlson, Emily Hennenfent, Morgan McKee, Brent Nelson and Wesley Anderson, all eighth-graders at ROWVA Junior High in Oneida.

ROWVA’s Destination Imagination Team was awarded 1st Place at yesterdays Regional Tournament in Pekin. They were also the recipients of The Renaissance Award which recognizes extraordinary effort and preparation in their solutions and outstanding skill in design, execution and performance. The team now moves on to the state competition which will be held April 10 in Glen Ellyn
