University Level DI

How to get started?

All members of University Level teams (Team Challenge or DI eXtreme) must be currently enrolled full-time students from a college, university, trade, technical school or military, or high school seniors who are bound for higher education (college, university, trade school, military). Teams may be comprised of students from different colleges, universities, trade, and/or technical schools. When registering for a membership, UL teams must select a Team Name and identify one Affiliate to which they will "belong" for registration purposes. All members of DI eXtreme teams MUST be age 18 or older.
  • First thing to do, then, is to decide you WANT  to do DI at the university level!
  • Second thing is to decide whether you want to do a regular Team Challenge  or whether you want to do DI Extreme ™.
  • Third, decide on who will be on the team.
  • Will it be a team comprised of students that know each other at one college or school, or a mixed group of students that know each other from various schools but all live in the same city, town or state, or a "virtual team" of students that meet "virtually" (meet and work on the internet or some other electronic medium) and don't actually meet face to face until the Global Tournament. (an account of such a team can be found at Hairylunch's Creative Problem Solving Page- An account of the experience of doing a virtual team (1999)  Ernie Chang )
  • Decide on a "Team Name"
  • Figure out the financing required to get the solution(s) accomplished, and to get to Globals in Tennessee.
Those are the essentials. Each team will have other issues to consider and decision to make. Remember to talk to the UL Coordinator at University@dihq.org if you have any questions, or feel free to write in to the collegedi@yahoogroups.com where more experienced team members may take a shot at responding to your requests.
